Sonia Braga used her Facebook page to say that she dedicated her award to her friend José Wilker , who died this Saturday morning (5). Honored at the 1st edition of the Latino Awards, which honors the best Latin-American movies of the year, at the Anayansi Theater, in Panama, Sonia received the lifetime achievement Platino Award . “I have just arrived home from the Platino Awards, this is my homage to an incredible person, who I cared about greatly and loved in my life” wrote the actress, in the caption which showed the trophy.
Sônia also published her speech from the event. “Personally, I have enjoyed every single second that I have stood in front of the camera. But I didn’t do it alone. Nobody can. So I would like to thank everyone who has shared the journey of my career. I would like to ask your permission now, as an actress and as a friend, for everything that we lived together, for my great love, to dedicate this award and all the honor and applause for this great Latin-American actor and friend, José Wilker, my companion from ‘ Dona Flor ’ who left us this morning. This is for you, José , my love”, said the actress upon receiving the trophy.
